Pandoras Promise
mai 26th, 2017Present nuclear CO2 emission is about 80-130 gram CO2/kWh the article says.

Thats about 10-15% of corresponding emission for coalplants.
I’ve also read other numbers, probably not adressing the whole energy-chain with extraction and what is done here either.
I just saw the documentary «Pandoras Promise», which probably is more tilted on the pro-nuclear side of the discussion, showing numbers in their favour. With the wastly flexible, stable and reliable supply of power the nuclear gives (especially with gen 3 and 4 reactors) it’s hard not to really consider it as an power alternative to all the fossil shit we spew out today. Also – a good point – and maybe the most influential point of all – is the political and the general «I hate nuclear because of the bombs» attitude..
That said – The disarmament of nuclear weapons is being used as fuel for the nuclear reactors today. Enriched uranium a 98% or so is being diluted to 3-4% required for today’s reactors with current technology. Also – the development of nuclear technology has been staggering all since WW2 and extreme media scandals like Chernobyl must have much of the blame since everyday people has a bad relation to such a new technology.
I really recommend you all reading this watching the Pandoras Promise (on Netflix for instance). It has a bunch of good points, even if not maybe all the numbers are so magically promising as I’d like to think.
Though.. the webside smells like «An Inconvenient Truth» copy, its really worth watching.
